Oh the joy of another finish and I just love how it turned out and it is my entry for Bloggers Quilt Festival, I have always loved reading all about the quilts and this year decided to join the fun for the first time.
Larry decided on the name “Straight on ’til Morning” from the following quote:
“Second star to the right and straight on ’til morning. ”
? J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
All the starts are paper pieced which I blogged about here last February and most come from Faith at Fresh Lemon Quilts and also a few from Quilterscasche.com.
Faiths instructions and patterns are just wonderful and if you want to try paper piecing for the first time, I would check her blog out.
I didn’t have a plan when I started out and it kind of evolved as I went along and really liked how making the blocks bigger with the solid painter canvas made the stars just pop. I am in love with Painter canvas from Laura Gunn with Michael Miller which I used as the background also and combined with the her Cosmos line was wonderful to work with. I just got to see her new Edges collection and I see lots of this in my stash very soon!
For the quilting design I used Spiral Star by Marjorie Busby which provides great texture. I used two layers of batting warm and natural and a thin poly that was out of its bag so not sure what it was! Thread was Bottom line in the bobbin and Sew Fine on top in white.
Here are some more detailed pictures:
I’m not a quilter, but somehow I know how to come up with names that suit the amazing designs of my most awesomely talented quilter wife. 🙂

As a J. M. Barrie fan, those words have special poignance for me. It’s the perfect name for that beautiful quilt!
Thanks for the feedback
