"Straight on 'til Morning"

“Straight on ’til Morning”

Larry decided  on the name “Straight on ’til Morning” from the following quote:

“Second star to the right and straight on ’til morning. ”

? J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

All the starts are paper pieced which I blogged about here last February and most come from Faith at Fresh Lemon Quilts and also a few from Quilterscasche.com.

Faiths instructions and patterns are just wonderful and if you want to try paper piecing for the first time, I would check her blog out.

I  didn’t have a plan  when I started out and it kind of evolved as I went along and really liked how making the blocks bigger with the solid painter canvas made the stars just pop. I am in love with Painter canvas from Laura Gunn with Michael Miller which I used as the background also and combined with the her Cosmos line was wonderful to work with.  I just got to see her new Edges collection and I see lots of this in my stash very soon!

For the quilting design I used Spiral Star by Marjorie Busby which provides great texture. I used two layers of batting warm and natural and a thin poly that was out of its bag so not sure what it was!  Thread was Bottom line in the bobbin and Sew Fine on top in white.
